Jordan Brand Invites Players to Control the Game With the Tatum 5, Jayson Tatum’s New Signature Shoe

Published · Updated

Jordan Brand’s Tatum 5 puts Jayson Tatum’s focus on efficiency, control and effortless performance into a new signature silhouette. It is built for players who dictate the pace, with a lightweight, responsive feel designed to keep them contained and confident in every movement.

Tatum returns to the court stronger and more focused, with the fifth shoe in his Jordan Brand signature line reflecting the poise and precision of his game. When he controls the pace, the design story follows suit: every movement is meant to feel deliberate.

“There’s always going to be noise around you, especially when people expect a lot from you. For me, success comes from blocking all of that out, trusting my work, and staying in control of what I can control,” says Tatum. “The Tatum 5 is built with that same mindset. It helps me slow the game down, play with confidence, and make every move with purpose. I’m not reacting to the moment, I’m owning it.”

The Tatum 5 pairs performance-focused construction with a clean, modern look. It is engineered for quick cuts, stability and all-around versatility on court, while its premium finish is designed to resonate beyond the game and with the next generation of athletes.

A dynamic utility strap anchors the design, securing the foot without adding unnecessary weight. Its locked-in feel is intended to give players confidence and clarity as they move.

A 10-millimeter forefoot Air Zoom unit delivers energy return for quick bursts and smooth transitions. The molded midfoot wrap and heel structure support stability through cuts and stops, while herringbone traction made with HART 2.0 rubber is built for sharp stops and precise footwork.

“Jayson has evolved into one of the game's most complete players because he never speeds up for anyone. He plays with poise, precision and control. That became our guiding principle for the Tatum 5,” says Tony Hardman, Design Director, Jordan Basketball Footwear. “Every detail, from the containment-focused strap to the lightweight, responsive performance package, was designed to help athletes feel connected, confident and in command of every possession. The result is a shoe that reflects not just how Jayson plays, but how the next generation wants to compete.”

A perforated sidewall zone and ballistic mesh vents across the lateral, medial and forefoot work with lightweight upper materials to help keep the foot cool. The soft, molded upper carries the fluidity of Tatum’s earlier signature shoes into a forward-looking design that can accommodate different materials and treatments.

The heel introduces a new treatment for Tatum’s number 0, calling to mind the arch in his hometown of St. Louis. The launch Sunrise colorway takes inspiration from the Boston sunrise, with a Sunset colorway inspired by the city at day’s end also set to follow.
