Nike is bringing the Zoom Drive model from the Alpha Project archive to NOCTA and Drake, launching a new collaboration during the Spring of 2024.
Although Drake is not necessarily a design enthusiast, many of Nike’s collaborating artists aspire to reach the level achieved by the rapper from Toronto, Canada. Considering that Virgil Abloh released only one original model for Nike, it is impressive that Drake is about to launch his third sneaker for Nike. After the “Hot Step” and the “Glide”, Drake returns with a new collaboration on the “Zoom Drive” silhouette.
The Zoom Drive is not a new model, but it was brought back from the archives specifically for Drake. The shoe uses Zoom technology for a more comfortable sole, serving as the inspiration for the Air Presto. The model did not last very long, as it was part of the Nike Alpha Project, the equivalent of today’s premium NikeLab and ISPA product lines.
Compared to previous models, the artist also chooses to use leather on the upper of the new model. However, the shoe’s aesthetic remains similar to his earlier releases. The model features a predominantly black mesh upper, which is surrounded by a leather mudguard. The sole is also black, with a white TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) plate attached to it. The laces, the NOCTA logos stitched on the tongue and heel labels, as well as the logo on the sole, are also white.
When is the Nike x NOCTA Zoom Drive Black releasing?
Although there is still no official release date, the Nike x NOCTA Zoom Drive "Black" could launch in early 2024. In addition to the black pair, there are also rumors about a triple white pair. See official images of the black pair below as we wait for more details about the release of the new model.
