What happens when you completely rethink an iconic silhouette? Bold and refined, the Nike Air Max Dn marks a new generation in the cushioning revolution for footwear that Nike started more than 30 years ago.
Nike’s innovation, design, engineering, and research teams have worked hard to create a shoe with an unmatched look and feel. The solution is the development of Dynamic Air.
First introduced on the Air Max Dn, Dynamic Air is built into a new Nike Air unit with four dual chambers and four tubes, engineered for comfort, a smooth stride and maximum bounce. The dual-pressure Air unit is made up of two pressurized chambers, each with two tubes. The two chambers are specially tuned with higher pressure in the two rear tubes (15 psi) and lower pressure in the two front tubes (5 psi). Air flows through the tubes between the two chambers with every step, delivering a comfortable, smooth sensation with each stride.
The "All Night" color scheme, along with other colorways, will be released on Nike.com and at Nike stores in adult and kids' sizes on March 26, 2024. The "All Day" color scheme will be released on Nike SNKRS and through select Nike partner retailers.
From the very beginning, the shoe has been a collaborative effort between Nike designers, engineers, and scientists at Nike Air Manufacturing Innovation (Air MI) and the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) to create a more efficient Air system for comfort and movement.
Nike’s innovation teams drew on more than three decades of Air Max science and all the latest manufacturing methods to deliver an unprecedented feel. Digital capabilities such as Finite Element Analysis helped the teams test the Air unit faster and more accurately before creating prototypes for real-world lab testing. When testing the durability of the Air unit, for example, the team was able to digitally simulate a year of wear on the shoe in just a few hours. Getting answers this quickly allowed the teams to gather athlete feedback even faster, then keep the process going: try, test, refine, repeat.
Injected Phylon foam surrounds the Air unit to provide underfoot comfort, while a street-ready rubber outsole wraps around the heel to deliver traction and durability. The Air unit works in concert with every other component of the shoe, engineered with the same level of innovation, science, and research found in Nike’s elite performance footwear.
The upper also needed to convey the dreamy, fluid sensation of that transition from heel to toe. The materials teams suggested using a modern textile with a haptic, textured overlay and a silicone finish. The result: a bold new Air Max model that disrupts and reimagines the future of Nike Air with every step – the Nike Air Max Dn.
The shoe was designed so that the color works precisely and in unison with the Dynamic Air platform, the upper, and the overall profile of the shoe. The Air Max Dn will be released in a range of colorways that can serve any form of self-expression, feelings, and emotions.
