Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark broke the all-time NCAA women’s basketball scoring record on Thursday, surpassing the previous mark of 3,527 points held by Kelsey Plum.
Caitlin Clark needed just eight points on Thursday and hit the record-breaking shot early in the first quarter against the Wolverines. Clark pulled up from beyond the three-point line, knocking down a shot from the left side to break the record. It was her third basket and eighth point of the day.
Footwear bearing Kobe’s name is becoming increasingly popular among professional athletes. As Nick DePaula also mentioned on Twitter, Clark was wearing a pair of Nike Kobe 5 Protro "Bruce Lee". The Kobe 5 Protro pair was released during Winter 2020. It is currently going for over €500 on the secondary market.
Clark is not done breaking records. The Iowa star was set to surpass her own career high of 46 at the end of the fourth quarter with a three-pointer in the final minutes, finishing with 49 points. At the moment, Caitlin Clark is averaging 32.1 points per game. This is the best scoring average of her career, after previously averaging 27.2 points.
Caitlin Clark tied her career high with 9 three-pointers and added 13 assists. Her team, the Iowa Hawkeyes, won 106-89 against Michigan.
