Adidas CEO confirms the brand will no longer sell Yeezy designs

In October last year, the controversies surrounding Kanye West led adidas to put an end to the Yeezy product line, probably their most successful collaboration. Although the Three Stripes brand eventually reconciled with the artist, this was only a temporary solution to the brand’s growing financial losses.

Statements from current adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden appear to clarify the future of adidas Yeezy, as he confirmed in a recent call with all shareholders that the brand will no longer sell Yeezy designs going forward. “The Yeezy product is something created by Kanye West, he is its inventor and we were his partners. Taking his designs and selling them afterwards, which we could do from a legal standpoint, is not part of our strategy”, Gulden stated. “Our task now is to limit the damage, clear out our inventory, use the proceeds in a good way… and then build a business afterwards without Yeezy.”

While adidas generated significant profit from the return of adidas Yeezy – earning approximately 560 million dollars in May 2023 alone – their focus going forward will be on the core business. Although sales in North America were “slightly better than we expected,” they still fell by 16%, a figure that likely would have been higher if the brand had not continued to sell Yeezy products. As new models are released during August 2023, both adidas revenue and profit will certainly increase. However, once they officially end their association with Kanye West, it is unclear what will happen to the identity of this iconic sportswear brand, given the impact the Yeezy product line has had on the brand over the past 8 years.

With this in mind, we recommend checking the full list of stores that are releasing Adidas Yeezy models during August 2023. You can also find below the list of all Yeezy models that were scheduled to launch during August 2023.
