After several successful collaborations in previous years, Stussy is working with Nike once again during Fall 2024 on the Stussy x Nike LD-1000. So far only the green pair has surfaced online, but according to an internal Nike document, it appears there are four more color schemes under the same product code.
When is the Stussy x Nike LD-1000 releasing?
This time, the chosen model is the Nike LD-1000, a popular choice for Nike collaborators in the near future. The Portland, Oregon-based brand recently announced that the LD-1000 will return to stores in "affordable" color schemes for the general public. The LD-1000 has been in Nike’s archives for almost 50 years.
The collaboration has not been officially confirmed by the two brands. Even so, the five product codes and the colors used for the products were revealed in the previously mentioned internal document. Besides the green and black pair mentioned earlier, the model is also releasing in "Grey/Blue", "Grey/Green", "Pink/White" and, last but not least, "Beige/Pink" color schemes.
At the moment no images have been released for the latest colorway (the pink one).
At the moment, no official release date has been announced, as it is still far too early for such details. However, we expect the pairs to be officially unveiled starting in July 2024, during the Fall 2024 season.
The Nike LD-1000 was originally released in 1977, revolutionizing long-distance running. It features a waffle sole that became emblematic for Nike and Bill Bowerman. The very wide flared heel was intended to offer runners increased stability and traction, but it ultimately led to the shoe being pulled from the market due to injuries suffered by athletes who wore it. The shoe is also mentioned in the book Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, the founder of Nike:
We issued a recall and braced ourselves for a public backlash — but it never came. On the contrary, we heard nothing but gratitude. No other shoe company was trying new things, so our efforts, successful or not, were seen as noble. All innovation was hailed as progressive, forward-thinking. Just as failure didn’t deter us, it didn’t seem to diminish the loyalty of our customers.
