The skate world is being taken over by a new generation that is pushing its limits on the board from a very young age. With the next generation of riders in mind, Nike SB is launching the Day One, the first SB shoe designed specifically for kids.
For the new model, a process called “cupsole construction” was used. This means that the lower and upper parts of the shoe are two separate pieces that are assembled afterward.
The Day One sole construction is designed to give kids a stable ride. The Nike team knows how important it is to feel the board under your feet so you can control it. The lighter and more flexible the shoe, the better the board feel. With this in mind, excess foam was removed from the shoe to reduce its weight.
The upper features a combination of suede overlays and mesh panels to help with durability while keeping the shoe breathable. To help with cushioning during high-impact tricks, the shoe comes with a visible Zoom Air unit in the heel. The rubber outsole is designed to help enhance board feel and offers full mobility.
