Nike is adding a bold new colorway to its performance footwear lineup, launching the "Nike Electric Pack" on July 24, 2024. The pack includes 55 different footwear models for 32 sports, all in the same bold color scheme.
The “Safari” colorway is used across all 55 pairs of sneakers. It combines the famous “Ostrich” print, first introduced by designer Tinker Hatfield on the Air Safari in 1987, with the “Total Orange” shade, dedicated to performance models that will start releasing from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games onward.
The pack contains products from all Nike Performance lines. For example, it includes models from the Nike SB division, such as the Dunk Low Pro and the new PS-8. It also includes a number of Nike Football boots. In addition, the pack features Nike Basketball and Nike Running pairs. Last but not least, it also includes kids’ models.
Caroline Abero, Senior Director in the women’s footwear and apparel department at Nike, was responsible for the "Electric Pack" colorway. For her team, the combination of colors and prints had to be distinctive, inspiring an attitude synonymous with victory: bold and fearless.
The origin story of the ostrich print is quite well known. During a walk through the SoHo neighborhood of New York in the ’80s, Tinker Hatfield passed by a luxury furniture boutique, where he saw a sofa covered in a similar print. Its textures were extremely natural, smooth, and organic. Tinker went back to Nike and wanted to apply the print to a performance shoe, which was a crazy idea for that era.. Taking an athletic shoe and making it… non-athletic? This was certainly not even one of the boldest ideas that the famous Tinker Hatfield had for Nike.
It was revolutionary for its time. Until then, Nike was seen primarily as a utilitarian performance brand. The challenge: combining lifestyle elements with a high-performance product and then adding a story through colors or textures that emanate from a specific moment or place. This combination stands out. And this is the same way Nike envisions the Electric Pack standing out this Summer.
When is the Nike Electric Pack releasing?
The Nike Electric Pack is releasing on select performance models on July 24 on Nike.com and at partner Nike Skateboarding, Nike Football, Nike Basketball and Nike Running retailers. Stay up to date with all limited edition releases by following Sneaker Market Romania on Google News.
