Starting during the Fall of 2023, Nike began producing the famous Nike Air Max 1 in the elegant "Black / White" color scheme.
The "White/Black" color scheme has been the most popular colorway of the last 5 years thanks to the massive success of the Nike Dunk "Panda". Over the past few seasons, we have seen both the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 1 in this colorway, but this time Nike is applying it to the Air Max 1 silhouette. With a black mudguard and white mesh, the shoe is similar to the "Panda" aesthetic. However, it features a shade of grey on the overlays on the upper. The midsole comes in white, while the outsole is done in both white and black. This model is releasing exclusively in womenâs sizes (35.5 â 44.5 EU), but there is a similar alternative available in menâs sizes.
Tinker Hatfield says that the Nike Air Max 1 was inspired by his first visit to the Centre Georges Pompidou. The architecture of the Paris museum is one of the most controversial buildings in Paris, being compared to a factory or a refinery. The way the buildingâs design allows passersby to see all of its inner workings from the outside (all the floors, the escalators, the air conditioning systems, as well as the museum visitors) inspired him. Tinker was trying to enlarge the Air unit in the sole, which at the time was smaller than it is today and hidden inside the midsole, but he had not yet thought of making the Air unit visible. Tinker Hatfield mentions that he is sure that if he had not gone to Paris to visit the Centre Pompidou, he might never have suggested this change.
