After first revealing it last year, adidas Originals is now bringing its A-TYPE collection to the public for the first time, marking a broader rollout of one of the brand’s most premium craft-focused capsules.
The May 7th, 2026 launch spans eight selected retail partners across Atlanta, Seoul, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, Montreal, and Paris. The opening capsule applies A-TYPE detailing to heritage staples including the A-Leather Superstar, the A-Leather Track Top and Track Pant, plus a limited football-focused trio with an A-Leather jersey, bespoke A-TYPE football, and leather carrier.
As the official press release frames it: “A-TYPE. An unapologetic ode to the Three Stripes’ DNA.”
Standout construction details include Italian-made leather builds across footwear and apparel, cashmere laces with detachable tips and silver-plated jewelry on the A-Leather Superstar, and a football jersey body-mapped from adidas FIFA WORLD CUP 2026™ on-pitch federation uniform patterns. The capsule also revives a 1970s Trefoil variant as A-TYPE’s core signifier across imagery and product labels.
When is adidas Originals A-TYPE releasing?
The inaugural public A-TYPE release lands through eight exclusive global retail partners, rather than a broad general release channel. The collection arrives on Thursday, May 7th, 2026. Its timing places the drop one year after the line’s initial reveal and ahead of a major summer of sport for the brand. The launch also aligns with adidas Originals’ continued football-led storytelling through Spring and Summer 2026.
