Inspired by the electrifying colors of Michael Jordan’s motorcycle race team in 2006, the return of the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” has drummed up a diverse conversation. Having been privy to the reinstallation of the retro take since last Fall, initial images were subject to mixed reviews as its forefoot stitching dawned a disparate choice of bright yellow. Since updating the latter to fall in line with the pair’s original mid-2000s DNA, official imagery of the thunderous silhouette has finally been made available.
Over the last decade, the silhouette has been rumored to return ad nauseam, but it seems Jordan Brand has finally put things into motion to reissue the Thunder colorway that debuted in 2006. Constructed 17 years later, the second Air Jordan design from Tinker Hatfield renders near-exact specifications to its 2006 counterpart, dressing a dominant portion of its upper in a jet-black nubuck while rendering further pitch-dark color matches along the mid-foot netting, laces and branded tabs. Illuminated in its typical placements, “Thunder” consumes the base underlays, lacewings and midsole underfoot while pops of crisp white are applied to the various Jumpman insignias.
Scheduled to release on May 13th on Nike.com in full family sizing for a retail price of €220, enjoy official imagery of the upcoming Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” below.
