At the end of March, rumors surfaced that Union LA is preparing another collaboration on the Air Jordan 1 model, with the release scheduled for August. Moreover, we learned that these will look nothing like their original design inspired by vintage culture, released in 2018, and this rumor has proven to be true.
What truly sets this 2023 design apart is the use of a thick woven fabric panel around the mudguard – an obvious nod to the Air Footscape Woven. The shoe that served as inspiration debuted in the late 2000s (and is gearing up for a major comeback this year) and was an evolution of the Air Footscape, a running shoe known for its asymmetrical construction. However, merging that model with the Air Jordan 1 is something absolutely no one expected, which makes this collaboration all the more interesting. The yellowed hue is in line with the first Air Jordan 1 x Union LA pairs, while the “BBS” embroidery on the heel pays tribute to Chris Gibbs’ wife, Beth, and her brand “Bephie’s Beauty Supply”.
When is the Union LA x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG releasing?
