Inspired by the electrifying colors of Michael Jordan’s motorcycle racing team from 2006, the return of the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” has sparked a wide range of discussions. After learning as early as last fall about the reissue of this retro, the first images were met with mixed reactions, as the stitching in the forefoot area displayed a different shade of bright yellow. Once this detail was updated to better align with the original DNA of the mid-2000s pair, the official images of this “thunderous” silhouette were finally revealed.
Over the last decade, the silhouette has been rumored to return ad nauseam, but it seems Jordan Brand has finally put things into motion to reissue the "Thunder" colorway that debuted in 2006. Constructed 17 years later, the second Air Jordan design from Tinker Hatfield renders near-exact specifications to its 2006 counterpart, dressing a dominant portion of its upper in a jet-black nubuck while rendering further pitch-dark color matches along the mid-foot netting, laces and branded tabs. Illuminated in its typical placements, "Thunder" consumes the base underlays, lacewings and midsole underfoot while pops of crisp white are applied to the various Jumpman insignias.
